The little things mean a lot.
It’s also the little things we take for granted.
Imagine rushing to the hospital in the middle of the night with your cell phone on 15%. You know you’ll have to call people, but you just can’t think about that right now.
You’re taking your little to the hospital because (fill in the blank). Your little one is the only thing you can think about right now.
Fast forward – You’re settling into the ER, your child is being attended to and you decide to call your mom to let her know how things are going… but you’re down to 2% and panic. This is actually based on a true story!
The day Logan was diagnosed was the worst day of my life. After his MRI, the doctor put us in a room, waited for the nurse to shut the door and told us the horrible news. Logan was then immediately moved to PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit).
My husband and I had to call our families, jobs, friends, etc., we were not leaving the hospital anytime soon. Neither of us brought our cell phone chargers, never thinking we would be at the hospital more than a few hours. Thankfully CVS was across the street from the hospital, so my husband ran over and bought us two cell phone chargers and cables.
When we started the Logan Strong Foundation, one of our initiates was to put cell phone charging stations in the three main pediatric waiting rooms at Albany Med. We are so happy to announce that our first charging station was recently installed in the D7 waiting room at the Bernard & Millie Duker’s Children’s Hospital at Albany Med and is already being used by the families there.
“We are so fortunate to live in a community with people like Logan Strong Foundation who help us make our patient experience a whole lot better. Their most recent donation of a new universal charging station has been a wonderful addition to our family waiting area within the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital. Having a central spot where our guests can keep charged and connected while being close to their loved ones makes difficult situations a bit easier. We are grateful to the Logan Strong Foundation for this very thoughtful donation. It’s the simple acts of kindness by others who help make our hospital a better place.”
“We had a family here who did not expect to be admitted and ended up staying here for longer than anticipated. They asked for a charger for their phone. We were able to walk them over to the Logan Strong Foundation’s charging station and they were so grateful!
With the charging station’s convenient placement in the waiting room, it’s close by enough that families don’t need to go far, but still gives an opportunity for parents/caregivers/family members to step out and take a brief respite”.
