As both a Logan Strong Foundation (LSF) board member and a current LSF family for the last 2.5 year, I have a unique perspective. I know that my fellow board members have my back, but it still always amazes me how quickly the board acts when any family is in need.

The last time we were in the ER, the doctors told us our daughter, Silvi, needed to be admitted for her fever. We were so worried about the next steps. It took one text to the board, and within an hour, a fellow member was dropping off parking passes, gift cards for food, and toys for Silvi. This is in addition to everything they had done for us when Silvi was first diagnosed, the Amazon wish list, the bracelets, the online fundraising campaign, gas cars, food cards and all of the little things inbetween. 

These were the crucial, immediate needs we hadn’t even thought of yet, but the board had. They were there immediately to help, letting us know we weren’t fighting alone. This is not my experience with the Logan Strong Foundation because I am a board member. This is the reaction every time there is a call to action to help a family in need. The members of the Logan Strong Foundation take the mission, “Empowering families, one child at a time”,  to heart and it is one of the many reasons I joined the board in the first place. 

Childhood cancer is so hard on the kids, physically and emotionally but as a parent it is damn near impossible to watch your child fight this fight. The bad days are crushing but the good days are the light through the battle. It is the moments as a parent you hold on to, every single smile, every single laugh no matter how small. It is those moments that help to lighten the darkness of the bad days, it is those moments that get the family through the fight. The Logan Strong Foundation is responsible for so many of those smiles and giggles. It could be a simple McDonalds Happy Meal, a new toy, a set of golf clubs, a gaming console or a simple phone call and a hug when you need it most.  

I couldn’t be more proud of the work the Logan Strong Foundation does. It is truly needed and makes an immediate, tangible difference in the lives of our families. I am so proud of all our members, and it is an honor to work with you on this mission.
